Ballet Theatre was founded more than 20 years ago by Mary Kay Touris. She began teaching ballet lessons in her home basement studio and steadily grew a base of loyal parents and students. Eventually she outgrew the basement studio and moved into rented commercial space and further expanded the business by offering tap, jazz and modern lessons in addition to maintaining the commitment to high quality ballet instruction.

In 1996 Mary Kay realized her ultimate dream and broke ground on a beautiful, bright and spacious building designed specifically for dance. Since that time, the dance program has steadily improved and developed into the finest program in the Rochester area by emphasizing an approach of teaching through positive reinforcement and cooperation. Ballet Theatre is a family environment in which both parents and students can feel comfortable. We are committed to making sure that all students have a path to realize their full potential.
